Job Summary and Qualifications

The Corporate Manager, Clinical Competency is responsible for the collaborative development, management, delivery and execution of HCA Healthcare’s clinical competencies. This position will collaborate across various clinical workgroups, interacting with various stakeholders to ensure all competencies are developed and implemented using HCA Healthcare’s Center for Clinical Advancement education standards.

What you will do in this role includes:

  • Monitors the practices or operations with reference to laws, regulations, guidelines, or industry practices to assess compliance, risk, or exposure while communicating key performance indicators for clinical education service line.

  • Design and develop tools and processes for management of competencies that will facilitate the execution and alignment with nursing strategies and initiatives.

  • Ensures that the work of the workgroups develop competency content that will meet the various accreditation standards which includes and is not limited to the Joint Commission, Medicare, Medicaid and similar organizations.

  • Collaborates and shares responsibility with the Division Vice President, Clinical Education to establish expectations for developing and implementing competencies and practices that create a patient-centered organization, driven by customer feedback and data.

  • Ensures efficient and effective delivery of quality content and programs that will improve clinical metrics.

  • Ensures data reflects financial and operational metrics for clinical education presented to various groups is accurate and presented within the established time frame.

  • Evaluates results of implementing clinical competencies through the monitoring of key performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement in patient outcomes, staff satisfaction and/or patient experience.

  • Participates in strategic planning and business development within area(s) of responsibility to support new service offerings, technology advances and other opportunities to drive differentiation and support the growth agenda through the development of educational programs.

  • Operates within the annual budget.

  • Ensures effective labor management, including position control, scheduling excellence, productivity management; ensures compliance with established policies and procedures.

  • Participates in the development of long and short range operational and capital budgets aligned to business objectives.

  • Prepares variance reports based on actual and budgeted expenses as requested. Participates in the budget and capital allocation process.

  • Collaborates with Assistant Vice President to systematically evaluate HCA’s education plan that includes clinical competencies to determine achievement of expected outcomes and resource allocation.

  • Participates in scientific inquiry that generates new knowledge and integrates best available evidence into practice into HCA’s clinical competency program.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Master's degree In Nursing or Education; if the graduate degree is not in nursing, the undergraduate degree must be in nursing - Required

  • Doctorate's degree in Nursing or Education - Preferred

  • 5+ years of experience in an acute care facility and 2+ years of experience in education, organizational development or human resources in a hospital setting. - Required

  • Education professional with the ability to develop course content, course delivery, learner evaluation and understanding of adult learning principles - Required

  • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) in which he or she practices, in accordance with law and regulation - Required

  • Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
