Job Summary and Qualifications

The Director for the Magnet Recognition Program® is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, monitoring and overseeing the overall Magnet Recognition Program® and the Magnet designation/re-designation process and related programs. This position works closely with leadership and staff in executing the Magnet Recognition Program® initiatives. Is responsible for submitting applications, interim monitoring reports, and Magnet documents (initial and re-designation) based on the Magnet criteria. Develops and implements organizational strategies and infrastructure to support clinical quality, operational effectiveness, and shared leadership, which are all essential to the Magnet Program®. Acts as a liaison with all departments within the organization to promote nursing excellence and to further the Magnet philosophy. The Magnet Program Director reports to the Chief Nursing Officer and has a dotted line to the Administrative Director of Clinical Education and Professional Practice.

What you will do in this role:

  • You will support the HCA Code of Conduct. Demonstrate behaviors consistent with organization mission and goals.

  • Your role ensures patient/personal safety by maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment and adhering to Safety Program and Infection Control Programs.

  • You will support hospital and departmental Performance Improvement Goals.

  • You will contribute to the organization’s five indicators of success: Employee Satisfaction; Physician Satisfaction; Patient Satisfaction; Continuous Performance Improvement; Community Involvement.

  • Your role assumes accountability for the Magnet Recognition Program®.

  • You will complete timely validation of NDNQI Nurse Sensitive Indicators, disseminate to appropriate units, and assist with action planning.

  • You will maintain data to support the Magnet initiatives/program requirements.

  • You will utilize innovative approaches to foster an environment of excellence.

  • You will participate in Shared Governance and promotes active committee participation.

  • You will coordinate and facilitate integration of evidence-based practice and research into clinical and operational practice under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer.

  • Your role serves as a liaison, role model, resource and leader of programs/services/committees as needed to further the efforts of the Magnet Recognition Program®.

  • You will collaborate with the organization’s key leaders to design processes, systems and programs to promote professional development, support professional nursing practice and shared leadership.

  • Your role assists in the development and attainment of organizational goals; enhances the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the organization.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Professional Nursing Required

  • Master’s Degree Required

  • 5 years of experience in management/administration managing large-scale projects Required

  • Prior experience as a Magnet Program Director Preferred

  • Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills

  • Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Windows, Word, and Excel.

  • Active RN license from the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of TN Required

  • RN with current temporary permit to practice accepted at the time of hire while awaiting permanent TN licensure. Full TN licensure must be obtained prior to expiration of temporary TN licensure status.

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

  • Critical Care Registered Nurse Acute/Adult (CCRN) must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
