Job Description:

At Regions, the Data Science Group Manager supervises, manages, and leads a focused team of data scientists, analysts, and visualization experts mentoring data scientists in the banking/financial domain, Statistical/Analytical skills as well as programming. This position is recognized as an industry expert in data science, facilitation, and change management.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Supervises, manages, and leads a focused team of data scientists, analysts, and visualization experts

  • Organizes and provides leadership to teams that develop analytics strategies that clearly represent a competitive advantage for the enterprise

  • Demonstrates sufficient knowledge, recognition, and expertise to positively influence and educate all levels responsible and affected by analytics

  • Communicates validation results to senior management, model owners, regulators, and auditors

  • Researches and utilizes industry best practices for modeling and validation

  • Exercises full ownership of the model development process and relationship with the business: from conceptualization through data exploration, model selection and validation, implementation, business user training and support

  • Understands technical issues in econometric and statistical modeling and applying these skills toward solving business problems

  • Identifies opportunities to apply quantitative methods to improve business performance

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

This position is incentive eligible.

This is a single incumbent position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with fourteen (14) years of experience

  • Or Master’s degree with ten (10) years of experience

  • Or Ph.D. with five (5) years of experience in a quantitative/analytical/STEM field

  • Three (3) years of working experience in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or Artificial Intelligence

  • Three (3) years of working programming experience in Python, Ruby, R, Matlab, Scala, or Java

  • Two (2) years of working experience in Big Data Technology in Hadoop, Hive, Impala, Spark, or Kafka

  • Two (2) years of managing data scientists/analysts and project management

Preferences

  • Master’s degree with Analytics/Business Intelligence (BI) focus or Ph.D.

  • Background in banking and/or other financial services

  • Experience in libraries such as TensorFlow, Pytorch, or Keras

  • Experience in Agile Software Development

  • Knowledge in Google Analytics and/or Adobe Digital

Skills and Competencies

  • Advanced Structured Query Language (SQL) skills

  • Comfortable with both relational databases and Hadoop-based data mining frameworks

  • Deep understanding of statistical and predictive modeling concepts, machine learning approaches, clustering and classification techniques, and recommendation and optimization algorithms

  • Expertise in analyzing large, complex, multi-dimensional datasets using a variety of tools like Python, R, Statistical Analysis System (SAS), or Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS)

  • Proficient in visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to communicate with both business and IT leaders

  • Strong leadership and project management skills

This position must be within a reasonable driving distance to a Branch, Consumer Operations, or Professional Office Building in the following primary locations:

Nashville, TN

Regions will not provide relocation assistance for this position, and relocation would be at your expense. Exceptions to the geographic location requirement may be made for current Regions associates who work remotely.

Compensation Details

Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.

The target information listed below is based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for where the position is located and level of the position.

Median:

$285,400.00 USD

Incentive Pay Plans:

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary incentive plan. Employees are eligible to receive a discretionary award based on individual, business, and/or company performance.Opportunity to participate in the Long Term Incentive Plan.
