The Cafeteria Cook is responsible for the preparation, and quality of the food product served in the Associate cafeteria. They are also responsible for cleaning and inspecting the cafeteria, food service equipment, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, stocks, and replaces food items for the Associate cafeteria.

  • Maintains the cleanliness of the employee cafeteria.

  • Performs prep work and cooking of menu items.

  • Post menu on daily basis.

  • Assists in the food production of other culinary operations.

  • Always maintain high quality, inspect all food products for quality when doing production

  • Maintain/check cooking times and temperatures.

  • Follow all storage procedures when taking food out of walk-in and when returning food to walk-in.

  • Always maintain cleanliness of work area.

  • Keep walk-in, prep area and equipment up to Health Department standards at all time.

Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of 6 months food & beverage operations experience.

  • Previous cafeteria/entry level culinary experience preferred, particularly in a hotel environment.

  • Institutional and cafeteria knowledge, preferred.

  • Must have a strong attention to detail with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced role.

  • Ability to work cohesively with co-workers both within and outside of your department.

  • Thorough knowledge of food handling and preparation techniques.

  • Basic math skills needed to understand and implement recipes and measurements.

  • Good eye/hand coordination needed to use all kitchen equipment.

  • Sufficient manual dexterity needed in hands to operate knives, spatulas, tongs, etc.

  • Must have prior experience to include sautéing, broiling & fry cooking.

  • Requires a working knowledge of sanitation standards.

  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.

  • Maintain a professional business appearance, attitude, and performance.

  • Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 70 pounds without assistance.

  • Stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift.

  • Requires repetitive motion.
