Chester County Solid Waste Authority Landfill Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic in NARVON, Pennsylvania

Responsibilities: The Entry Level Mechanic, under direction, assists in the overall maintenance, repair, and routine service of all heavy equipment, motor vehicles, machine tools, other equipment, and mechanical systems. Assists in performing maintenance, repair, and service activities necessary to enable the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all equipment, tools, and vehicles. Completes accurate and timely work orders. Reports accurate inventory of supplies, fuels, and lubricants. Principal Duties: 1. Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventative maintenance on schedule and per the preventative maintenance checklists. 2. Assists in repairing differentials, hydraulic systems, motors, transmissions, drives, brakes, air conditioning and electrical systems. 3. Reads and interprets equipment condition reports. Communicates with supervisor and/or operator for clarification of defects and discuss preventative techniques to minimize future repairs. 4. Contains costs by using good judgement and seeks advice on -- warranty coverage, evaluating service and parts options. 5. Monitors and reports inventory of supplies, fuels, and lubricants. 6. Completes accurate and timely work orders in computerized fleet management system (Dossier) for all services and repairs. 7. Maintains a clean, safe work area in the maintenance shop. 8. Follows all safety policies and procedures. 9. All other duties as assigned.
