POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Responsible for the operation of manually operated hand painting equipment as well as automatic paint line for application of final finish to prescribed specifications

    Sets up and operates automatic paint lines and hand-painting booths.

  • Prepares sprayers for use and operates all equipment.

  • Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired properties and color.

  • Cleans and maintains all spraying equipment and brushes with solvent.

  • Heats and sprays wax onto products after they are tested.

  • Inspects work in process including paint thickness and documentation

  • Performs minor paint and preparation duties such as:

  • Ensures surfaces are free of dirt, oil, and media.

  • Strips and cleans improperly finished parts for re-paint.

  • Removes rust or old paint from metal with acid, wire brush, or steel wool.

  • Masks devices and prepares them for painting.

  • Monitors chemical concentration in cleaning baths according to the procedure as needed.

  • Applies filler paint and/or paste to applicable engraved areas.

  • Maintains control of on-hand consumable paint supplies

  • Displays proper handling of all equipment and waste, including hazardous waste

  • Observe all safety rules and regulations and maintain the work area in a neat and orderly condition.

  • Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • 2 or more years prior directly related manufacturing process experience or demonstrated ability to perform described responsibilities.

  • Proficient in reading, understanding, and following follow blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions. Able to perform basic mathematical calculations.

  • Effectively applies lean initiatives. Maintains and can interpret operational and quality metrics and actively contributes improvement suggestions.

  • Demonstrates effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a team environment. Able to participate and provide input to engineering or other leaders on operational status or performance.

  • Interprets reports and uses job-specific software applications (e.g. production control/tracking systems). Able to use employee self-service systems to access online information and use specialized automated systems (i.e., PA+, TORS, e-mail).

  • Effectively demonstrates team member competencies and participates in goal setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.

    TYPICAL MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods. The team member is required to demonstrate manual dexterity and use their hands to operate machinery. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Also expected of the team member is regular attendance, and the ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others. May be required to lift to 50 lbs.
