In this role, you would provide recommendations for developing or modifying applications or databases, using research and fact-finding. This long-term contract / temporary to hire Programmer Analyst opportunity is found in Naples, Florida.

Responsibilities

  • Examines user requests for changes or improvements to systems. Writes functional requirements and assesses cost, feasibility and utility. Makes recommendations about how, when or whether to make the changes

  • Build and assess programming changes for every phase of systems development prior to implementation. Record test cases and expected results. Ensure results meet requirements. May develop basic tests or a defined subset of a larger system test. May make suggestions regarding acceptance/rejection if not all requirements are met

  • Builds dictionaries for applications and systems support by the analyst, and ensures they are up to date

  • Reviews methods of processing and recommends improvements

  • Collaborates on establishing communication materials for specific system changes being implemented in production

  • Serves as the in-house guide for internal clients experiencing programming problems, consulting on applications, systems and/or processes for identifying and resolving, processing/reporting the issues. Consultation can include troubleshooting and/or education

  • Trains and assists end users and other partner groups for a particular application, system or process, on an ongoing basis

  • Evaluates and records problems. Collaborates with other programmers to fix issues with code

    Requirements - GIS software experience desired

  • GIS mapping experience

  • Strong familiarity with ESRI ArcMap

  • ESRI GIS experience

  • Strong communication and social skills and able to receive criticism well

  • General knowledge of mainframe hardware/software and PC operations required

  • Proficiency in programming languages

  • Resourceful project management background
