Ameresco Site Safety Manager in Napanee, Ontario

Ameresco currently has a new opportunity for an experienced Site Safety and Health Manager to be based in Napanee, Ontario to oversee daily construction and project operations and ensure a safe, healthy, accident-free work environment for a multi-year project.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in construction team meetings and provide regular on-site project presence.

  • Plan, implement, manage, and maintain comprehensive environmental safety and health programs at project site locations.

  • Provide project management team with guidance on health and safety and confirm project site fulfills industry, local, provincial, and federal guidelines, and regulations.

  • Assist and participate in quality control reviews with Site Quality Control Manager

  • Act as temporary Site Supervisor during Site Supervisor absence.

  • Ensure the availability and proper use of safety equipment, including personal protective equipment (PPE), fall protection, fire extinguishers, and first aid supplies.

  • Conduct safety orientations, meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments

  • Collaborate with project management team to develop an Emergency Action Plan and serve as the primary contact for project site injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management.

  • Maintain a written log of project site safety inspection activities, reports, and correspondence.

  • Ensure continued compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 programs

  • Plan, implement, and conduct project site preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs.

  • Ensure that contractors and subcontractors comply with safety standards and requirements.

  • Work with consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and other parties as affected to develop hoisting and traffic plans.

  • Develop, monitor, and implement Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) program in conjunction with consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and other parties as affected.

  • Provide Safety support to projects in adjacent communities.

  • Perform other duties as required.

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, Engineering or related discipline OR a 309A Electrician with minimum of 10 years related experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.

  • Minimum 5 years large scale commercial/ government/ industrial/ or Utilities construction project experience.

    Additional Qualifications:

  • Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, related Construction Safety Courses are an asset.

  • Highly desirable is Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) Certification.

  • Ability to manage positive and effective interpersonal, functional, organizational relationships with all parties.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and computer communication and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and foster positive business relationships;

  • Strong verbal, written, computer, technical communication and presentation skills;

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite of Tools including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams

  • Knowledge of construction technology and project controls.

  • Risk assessment/management

  • Valid Driver License and in good standing.

  • Canadian Citizenship or Landed Immigrant Status.

  • Required to pass security clearance investigation.

  • Ability to travel up to 30%
