We are looking for a talented Sofware Engineer II for the RD Engineering function of Medtronic Engineering and Innovation Center RD facility for our Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure (CRHF) Software division. This engineer will work with other engineers and developers in the organization to develop and verify code to support the data management team and execute on the designs established by the Data Management architect. The right person for this position will be an individual that thinks independently, is decisive, and knows how to work as part of a team.
A Day in the Life
Implement and test the physical database environment, ETL process, business and presentation layers
Design, estimate, implement, and document the testing of technical solutions to ensure that software meets the business needs, while in compliance with applicable regulations and processes
Meet or exceed all project schedule milestones, cost and quality objectives
Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions aresolid, thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives
Identify and drive continuous software testing process improvements initiatives
Conduct test design and code reviews to ensure test code developed meets or exceeds coding best practices guidelines
Takes pride in quality, extensible, and maintainable work products.Demonstrates excellent coding practices.
Commitment to achieving and exceeding project goals and timelines.
Thrives in working with other disciplines to develop system-minded implementations that take into account safety, performance, communication, user interface and other aspects of a final product.
B.E or B.Tech in Computer Sciences, Electronics or Electrical Engineer or higher
5+ years of software engineering experience
Must Have Experience
XML/XQuery, VSTS/TFS/Azure DevOps, Microsoft SQL Server
Experience with SQL Server based Data Warehouses, including SSRS
Understanding of the ETL process and data transformation
Strong experience with SQL
Strong experience in test planning and test case writing
Defect analysis, writing and management through resolution
Problem-solving skills and creative thinking
Oral and written communication skills (technical documentation)
Nice to Haves
Experience with client server/database applications
Experience working in software product development, from design inputs through execution of the appropriate verification and validation tests
Experience with or knowledge of the Agile development paradigm
Experience working in a regulated industry
Experience with healthcare data domain
Medtronic device knowledge desirable
Ability to manage defects from root cause to resolution
Experience working in a dynamic environment
Principal Working Relationship
Reports to the Engineering Supervisor/Engineering Manager
Accountable to Principal or Senior Software Engineer(s) and/or Project Manager(s) for project-related responsibilities
The Engineer frequently interacts with Senior Developer, Tech Lead, other developers, VV engineers, internal partners and stakeholders concerning estimations, design, implementation or requirement clarifications, works closely with global sites.
Communicates primarily with internal contacts within immediate group. Contacts others to gather, confirm and convey information
