Position Summary:

The Academic Skills Tutoring Supervisor plays a critical role in providing tutoring services across CWI locations emphasizing academic support related to college readiness skills. This position prioritizes support for Career & Technical Education (CTE) students and has direct impact upon student retention, persistence, and overall success. The Academic Skills Tutoring Supervisor is responsible for organizing, scheduling, and supervising tutors who provide student appointments in CTE and study skills subjects. Further, this position participates in overseeing the everyday activities involved in the delivery of tutoring services at the various Tutoring Centers. The Academic Skills Tutoring Supervisor works in collaboration with the executive director, assistant directors, and other tutoring supervisors as part of the Tutoring Services Leadership Team.

Essential Functions:

• Develops, maintains, and promotes CTE, pre-CTE, and academic skills tutoring services to students, staff, and faculty.

• Provides visionary leadership for a team of tutors trained to provide student support in academic skills areas including time management, exam preparation, memory retention, classroom technology, digital skills, and note-taking.

• Serves as a member of the Tutoring Services Leadership Team and participates in developing, updating, and implementing the department’s mission, vision, and strategic goals by the college’s identified priorities.

• Ensures that Tutoring Services provides exceptional customer service and the highest level of tutoring standards; promotes a positive image of Tutoring Services, including its commitment to diversity and inclusivity.

• Recruits, hires, trains, supervises and advances professional development opportunities for CTE and mentor tutors.

• Participates in managing the day-to-day operations at the various tutoring centers on campus.

• Leads departmental outreach promoting tutoring to students and faculty, including class visits, resource fairs, and other activities.

• Collaborates with faculty to develop and maintain relationships advancing tutoring initiatives among CTE and other relevant academic departments.

• Develops study skills materials and workshops to support tutoring programs and services emphasizing CTE programs.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree

• Work Experience in an educational setting

• Demonstrated ability to effectively teach or train, with proficiency in presenting to students, staff, and faculty

• Knowledge of tutoring organization and function, as well as major issues and current trends especially related to CTE and Academic Skills tutoring

• Experience that demonstrates achievement in managing, motivating, and leading teams

• Articulated a strong customer service ethic, focusing on student, faculty, and staff needs

• Capacity to work effectively with non-traditional students and diverse populations
