Industrial Electrician, Nairn Centre, Ontario

Interfor is looking for an Industrial Electrician to complete the team of our Nairn Sawmill in Ontario.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment

  • Determine the existence of electrical hazards and problems. Safely isolate, ground, and prepare circuits and electrical apparatus to enable repairs

  • Have knowledge of and use the required personal protective equipment to protect against arc flash and shock

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and manuals to install, calibrate and maintain electrical apparatus to complete projects and assigned work.

  • Repair, install and test the equipment. (Variable frequency drives, motors, electrical control systems).

  • Design, install and maintain control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, circuit breakers, and control panels

  • Interpret the requirements of the electrical code and ensure compliance.

  • Respond to calls during the breakdown.

  • Repair or replace faulty electrical equipment, including electronic controls, meters, outlets, and panels

  • Write, design and edit PLC programming to make adjustments on equipment in the mill.

  • Assist in establishing and maintaining scheduled maintenance programs for plant equipment

  • Other related tasks

What You Offer

  • Have a college degree in Instrumentation / Control or a degree of professional studies recognized for certified Electrician.

  • At least two years of experience in an industrial environment, preferably in a timber complex.

  • Sawmill and/or planer experience will be considered an asset.

  • Knowledge of the Allen-Bradley PLCs would be an asset.

  • Familiarity with Occupational Health and Safety legislation.

  • Must be able to speak and write in English.

  • Be available to work on shifts including day, evening or night including weekends.

  • Ticketed: Red Seal

  • Efficient and organized.

  • Demonstrate collaborative spirit and initiative.

  • Analytical, conscientious and agile.

  • Results-oriented, in compliance with safety standards.

WAGE & HOURS: $39.40 per hour. 12 hours per day – continental shift and/or weekend shift
