CLASS TITLE: Public Safety Support Lead

PURPOSE OF THE CLASSIFICATION:

Performs various support duties within the Information Technology Department.

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

Provides Tier-1 support to City of Muskogee employees with a priority on public safety employees; i.e. police, fire and emergency management. Manages deployment of Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs) in police cars.

Manages programming, firmware and deployment of cellular modems in police cars as well as tracking placement of these modems.

Manages deployment of software and updates on both MDT and desktop devices.

Works with relevant third parties; supports the following software and associated hardware: Tyler New World, Firehouse, Tyler Incode, Central Square, Lexipol, Brazos, Frontline, Flock and any applications in use by City employees with a priority on public safety.

Troubleshoots issues with the software and associated hardware mentioned above.

Provides hardware and software support for all workstations, printers and any equipment attached to workstations with priority on public safety.

Works closely with 911 center to troubleshoot issues with Brazos, Tyler New World and Tyler Incode software.

Limited computer repair.

Maintains website sections for public safety.

Provides support for network troubleshooting and repair.

Provides support for the VoIP telephone system.

Assists departments with maintaining their section of the web site.

Provides software support for all Microsoft Office and other PC based applications.

Operates office equipment such as fax machines, copiers and phone systems and uses computer for spreadsheets, word processing, database management and other applications; learns to operate new office technologies as they are developed and implemented.

Records and broadcasts City Council, Public Works and other meetings as needed.

May be called out after normal working hours and weekends.

Performs other work as necessary and or as assigned.

Must report to work on a regular and timely basis.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

The Public Safety Support Lead reports directly to the Information Technology Director.

The Public Safety Support Lead does not have any direct reports or supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Training and Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Minimum of two (2) years experience in a technical or database support position. Preference will be given to applicants with experience using and/or supporting public safety applications and/or Central Square Naviline applications.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of the unique requirements of public safety employees, specific software and hardware and/or Central Square Naviline applications is a plus. Competent knowledge of Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems. Requires the ability to work well with others both inside the City offices and outside (County, etc.) to maintain the flow of information vital to the delivery of public safety. Must be a self starter, and be able to remain on task without constant supervision and be very detail and customer service oriented.

While performing the duties of this job, arm and hand steadiness and finger dexterity is needed enough to operate personal computers and workstations at long intervals. Occasional lifting/moving of paper and computers weighing up to fifty (50) pounds will be necessary. Vision, speech and hearing to perform essential tasks is imperative. Punctuality and reasonable attendance is essential. Must submit to drug screening and fitness to work physical exam.

Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a valid Oklahoma Class D drivers license is required.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work in this classification is primarily indoors in an office environment.
