Trinity Health Pulmonary Function Technician/ Respiratory Therapist 1st shift 64hrs per pp in Muskegon, Michigan

Responsibilities:

Summary of Duties: The Pulmonary Function Technician will work independently and be responsible for the following:

Essential Functions:

· Perform diagnostic tests on patients including; spirometry measurements, vital lung capacity, functional residual capacity, determination of maldistribution of inspired air, Methacholine Challenge/Bronchial Provocation testing and other pulmonary function testing as needed.

· Provide patient education including instructions in the proper use of inhalers and nebulizers.

· Complete all necessary documentation including billing forms when needed.

· Perform quality control procedures on test equipment.

· Maintain safe environment including but limited to sanitizing between patients and wearing proper PPE.

· Assist ordering providers to order the correct tests for the diagnosis

· Communicate with vendors.

· Troubleshoot utilizing knowledge of MGC diagnostics BreezeSuite and computer skills as well as work with tech support when necessary.

· Support, encourage and educate fellow PFT techs.

· Train new hires and work with students.

Required Qualifications:

· Registered or Certified Respiratory Therapist licensed in the state of Michigan with a minimum of 2 years' experience in Respiratory Care.

· Additional three years of related experience to include experience performing the following diagnostic tests on patients; spirometry measurements, vital lung capacity, functional residual capacity, determination of maldistribution of inspired air, Methacholine Challenge/Bronchial Provocation testing in all age groups including pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.

· Ability to instruct and be flexible with instruction so that patients of different understand levels can achieve a quality test.

· Good understanding of ATS standards.

· Good understanding of contraindications of Pulmonary Function Testing.

· Must have independent judgment and analytical skills.

· Must have good understanding of respiratory physiology.

· BLS certified

64 hrs/pp 1st shift hours weekends and holidays to be scheduled in accordance to CBA
