Job Description

The 4 year, 8,000-hour program will require on the job training on all shifts in all plant locations and will also include successful completion of required classes (50-60 credit hours) at Muskegon Community College that will be paid for by the company but will be taken outside of working hours and will be unpaid time.

Apprentices will be formally evaluated every 1000 hours. Continued participation in the apprentice program will be based upon acceptable job and academic performance.

Apprentices will be required to provide their own tools that, as a minimum, match a tool listing (specifying tool type and of an acceptable quality) provided by the company. If needed, the company can purchase the tool kit and the employee can repay the company via payroll deduction. Apprentices will establish department seniority upon entering the program.

Upon completion of the program, and becoming a Machine Repair person, this departmental seniority will be used in lieu of plant seniority for shift preference purposes.

Requirements:

• Competent in basic math / algebra

• Good mechanical aptitude

• Good spatial skills

• Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, toward goals

• Willing and able to work well in a teaming environment.

• People oriented. Must be able to interact with supervision and fellow associates

• Must pass a Mathematical and Hands-On Test

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
