Celonis Senior Backend Engineer in Munich, Germany

The Team:

The “Admin Experience” team is mainly focused on building an enterprise-ready Administration Cockpit that allows customers to manage their Users and Groups, Permissions, Audit Logs, Notifications, License utilization, Adoption views, and other platform settings. Among other topics, the team is currently undertaking building a new paradigm around Permissions management, a centralized Notification centre for events generated within the platform, a low-level high-reliability data copy between tenants, and many more.

The team is cross-functional and consists of backend/frontend/full stack engineers, an engineering manager, and a product owner, with additional support from QA and Technical Program Managers.

The Role:

As a Backend Engineer, you will take ownership of significant portions of the development process from design to delivery. You will create robust and sustainable software applications based on the defined specifications, actively contributing to their refinement.

The team collaborates on its overall technical vision and strategy, and you will have a key part in these topics.

The reliability and scalability of our services are always top of mind, therefore you, as well as the rest of the team, will keep a continuous focus on them.

You will be part of a team with high standards around software quality throughout development, testing, review, and optimization. This is fueled by a culture of knowledge-sharing and collaboration, therefore documentation of processes, concepts, and insights is the norm.

The work you’ll do:

  • Write maintainable, testable, and efficient code

  • Work autonomously on daily tasks without supervision

  • Take leadership in key technical decisions

  • Partner with the product manager on analyzing existing and gathering additional requirements

  • Create and present technical design documents

  • Participate in OpsCop rotations, take care of deployments to production

  • Closely communicate with frontend engineers in the team

  • Foster a knowledge-sharing and collaborative culture within the team

The qualifications you need:

  • 6+ years of professional experience building Java applications

  • Good understanding of the Spring framework

  • Experience with REST APIs and/or distributed micro-service architecture

  • Passion for writing clean and understandable code

  • Familiar with containerization technologies (i.e. Docker)

  • Nice to have: experience with modern frontend frameworks - Angular or other Javascript frameworks
