Purpose Statement

Independently clean, prep, prime, and paint all produced unit machines. This includes preparing, priming, and finish coating all assembled equipment, rust inhibitor coating of machined parts for stock, aftermarket painting per color requirements, and clean up of all daily tasks.

Job responsibilities and tasks

  • Perform all assigned duties in a safe and efficient manner
  • Prep for paint and paint all unit machines, guards, tooling, and aftermarket order per specs of each order
  • Apply rust inhibitor to machined parts
  • Continuously improve job knowledge through documented participation in classroom, cross functional, or other technical training
  • Maintain open communication with Supervisor, Production Planners, Engineers, Technicians, Customers, Logistics and Managers
  • Manage inventory levels of paint, cleaner, supplies, and safety equipment
  • Handle and transport materials in safe manner utilizing fork trucks, cranes and other mobile equipment
  • Maintain accurate documentation such as labor tickets. Make timely, job relevant electronic data postings per job packet
  • Maintain accurate daily paint and chemical usage per Andritz requirements
  • Support the Company goals of continuous improvement of quality, safety, and the reduction of manufacturing costs and lead times
  • Keep area clean and orderly per 5S requirements

Education, professional experience, and qualification preferred/required

Trade school and/or 3-5 years' experience in a shop environment is preferred. On the job painter's training may be provided for candidates who do not have extensive industrial painting experience, but would make a great fit for our team. Must be proficient in reading and interpreting complex drawings and blueprints, and work independently and as a team member with little to no supervision. Must be self motivated, work indepedently of others, and manage the paint department, while working with other departments for daily scheduling to meet OTP goals.

Physical and Mental Qualifications

This position requires work in a plant / mill environment, which may be dusty, dirty, with varying temperature and noise levels, heavy duty magnets, welding machines, and manual & remote controlled devices using radio signals. Good mobility is required in order to travel among departments. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs sit, stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach, kneel ascend/descend stairs, work in confined spaces, possess excellent sight, hearing, touch, and coordination, and wear necessary PPE. Must be able to endure long working hours when required and perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner at all times.
