POSITION PURPOSE

To plan, coordinate, and manage provisions of Library facilities to ensure safety and functionality of buildings and grounds, and to provide attractive, clean, safe environments for customers and staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage Facilities department staff; delegate maintenance/custodial tasks system-wide
  • Analyze, plan, and monitor projects and workload for MPL facilities
  • Administer all functions, services, and procedures of maintenance: maintaining, repairing, cleaning
  • Coordinate routine inspections and maintenance of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, elevator system, etc.
  • Operate, monitor, and facilitate repair/routine maintenance of Library vehicles and other equipment
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety policies and procedures
  • Regular communication with vendors for facilities jobs and related provisions
  • Collaborate with Administration on building and property improvement projects, including budgeting, planning, arranging/evaluating contractual services, etc.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of general cleaning, maintenance, and/or repair work experience
  • Maintain a valid Indiana Driver's License

Preferred:

  • Managerial experience
  • Advanced cleaning, maintenance, and/or repair work experience
