The Opportunity

ISMG is seeking a full-time Copy Editor for our Global Copy Desk will be responsible for providing content support, copy-editing, proofreading, creation and ideation, and other business-communication-centric support to various internal departments and lines of business within ISMG. All non-editorial copy and editing support will be provided by the Senior Copy Editor - Global Copy Desk.

From time to time, the Copy Editor - Global Copy Desk will be required to provide mentorship, training, and guidance to junior team members and help with the ideation, execution, and sustainment of desk processes and framework to meet the highest global standards of proofreading/editing.

Responsibilities

  • Copy-editing, proofing, writing custom content, and coordinating with the creative team for illustrations or photographs for attractive layouts

  • Working with network content in different formats including articles, audio/video interviews, webinars, blogs, and custom content on a regular basis

  • Transcribing and editing transcriptions of video interviews, audio interviews, event sessions, and other, multimedia content

  • Supporting marketing efforts in creating and publishing content/blogs/videos as needed by various departments and lines of business

  • Ensuring content is relevant, of quality, and updated as needed

  • Researching and staying up-to-date with current industry and technology trends, as well as security regulations/guidance and relevant legislative activities

  • Providing editorial/copy desk support to other sectors covered by ISMG

  • Managing and networking with other editors and writers for custom content initiatives

  • Proofread text and correct the spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors

  • Verify the factual correctness of all the information such as dates and statistics

  • Check the text for style, readability, and adherence to editorial policies

  • Ensure correct tone, voice, clarity, flow, and structure of content

  • Collaborate with the team to come up with fresh and creative ideas, keeping the audience in mind

  • Editing and developing high-quality research content

  • Communicate and work with the relevant team to ensure that content is published in a timely manner

    Requirements

  • BA in Journalism, Communications, or a related field or equivalent experience required

  • Minimum of 7 years experience covering technology in a security context

  • Minimum 5 years of writing experience in information security and overall information technology

  • Demonstrable knowledge of specific technologies and market leaders, including but not limited to: application security, cloud computing, data loss prevention, encryption, GRC, ID & access management, mobility, and social media

  • Knowledge of regulatory bodies and the regulations and guidance issued by these bodies for providing a framework for information cybersecurity within all sectors

  • Working knowledge of web publishing standards, content development and management, and web technologies

  • Must be proficient in writing and idea communication

  • Must be efficient, multitasker, proactive, and possess strong management and leadership skills

  • Good time management skills and ability to work well under pressure & meet deadlines

  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize tasks and be flexible in a changing work environment, while remaining creative, accurate and detail-oriented

  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information

  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office
