Microsoft Silicon Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is the team behind Microsoft’s expanding Cloud Infrastructure and responsible for powering Microsoft’s Intelligent Cloud mission. SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform globally with our server and data center infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability solutions. We are hiring a Technical Program Manager to build internal tools within SCHIE organization to drive efficiency and scalability.

You will partner closely with other Technical Program Managers and peer engineering teams to drive vision and deliver to our internal customer needs, including system performance, efficiency, scale, and functionality.

Responsibilities

  • The position entails collaborating with Silicon, Firmware, System and Software Engineering teams at SCHIE to comprehend their requirements for data analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Modeling Language (ML) applications, and internal tools, with a focus on enhancing daily operations efficiency and scalability.

  • Conduct thorough analysis of business and technical requirements, collaborating with stakeholders to prioritize and align with project goals.

  • Oversee the technical projects, capabilities enablement progress, and deliverable plans, in multiple technical domains to make sure the team is converging on their strategic objectives.

  • Working alongside the Software engineering team, you will be responsible for defining the technical strategy and product roadmap for internal customers.

  • Collaborate closely with technical teams to identify technical gaps and propose, evaluate innovative solutions to drive our technical requirements towards improving the overall strategic goals of SCHIE Organization.

  • Act as a liaison for clarifying requirements and facilitating communication between stakeholders and development teams.

  • Coordinate end-to-end project schedules, including semester plans, milestones, timelines, and releases, ensuring adherence to established processes.

  • Organize and conduct regular demos to gather feedback and incorporate it into product iterations.

  • Interact with business users to triage, prioritize, and address feedback within your domain.

  • Define success criteria and foster relationships for implementing features in complex cross-functional projects, ensuring alignment across organizations.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, a related field AND 4+ years’ experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development.

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years’ experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 3+ years of silicon or system hardware experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years’ experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development or equivalent experience.

  • Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, AND 6+ year(s) experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development or equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).

  • Understanding of the Hardware (Silicon+System) milestones, deliverables and interdependencies for establishing an accurate and effective business and technical requirements. 

  • Background in Electronic Design Automation (EDA) methodologies and Computer Aided Design (CAD).

  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies like Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent platforms.

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
