Google Systems Engineer, Embedded Devices, Google Home in Mountain View, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 1 year of experience designing, developing, implementing, and troubleshooting firmware for embedded systems.

  • Experience coding in one or more programming languages (e.g., C, C++, Python, etc.).

  • Experience communicating and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience launching IoT products requiring embedded systems development.

  • Experience with Android or iOS software development.

  • Experience with GNU tool chain or equivalent cross-platform development tools.

  • Experience with suppliers and micro-controller architectures.

  • Knowledge of RTOS development, local communication protocols (e.g., SPI, UART, etc.), communication/networking protocols (e.g., TCP, IP, Thread, Zigbee, Bluetooth Low Energy) or Application-Layer protocols (e.g., Matter, HTTP).

  • Knowledge of challenges and constraints of embedded systems computing such as low-power operation, real-time, and wireless communications considerations.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Understand partner use cases and offer insights and recommendations on embedded system design, development, and integration.

  • Build samples and documentation to support partners integrations with Google Home devices or platforms.

  • Partner with the Software Engineering team to communicate technical feedback from partners, resolve bugs or integration problems, and resolve escalations of technical issues from Technical Account Managers.

  • Identify, design, and build required tools, or partner solutions.

  • Travel to meet with current or new partners to provide support and troubleshoot as needed.
