Google Senior Image Processing Engineer, Google Nest in Mountain View, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Imaging Science, Color Science, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience working on consumer cameras and shipping market-leading products.

  • Experience in one or more of the following: Python, Matlab.

Preferred qualifications:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Imaging Science, Color Science, or relevant fields.

  • Experience in C++, Machine Learning (ML), browser based tool development.

  • Knowledge of CMOS image sensors, chip design, factory production process.

  • Understanding of ISP pipeline architecture and individual algorithm blocks.

  • Understanding of Auto White Balance (AWB) and Auto Exposure (AE).

At the Nest Image Processing Team, our goal is to work for the best image quality on Google Nest cameras, whether they are for surveillance, displays, or other applications. We engage in product development cycle from the early stage such as vendor SoC selection, to Image Signal Processing (ISP) performance optimization, automatic exposure/auto white balance algorithm development, and final shipment of the cameras. In this role, you will problem solve and ship excellent camera products to the user.

The Google Nest team focuses on hardware, software, and services for the home, ranging from Nest thermostats to Nest smart displays. The Google Nest team develops, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make users’ homes more helpful. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Work on product Image Quality (IQ) tuning, Optimize camera Hardware/Software for the best possible overall performance.

  • Develop Software, Tools for test automation, tuning, or other tools for improved productivity and quality, including ML assisted tools.

  • Manage ISP pipeline related work, IQ benchmark, architectural review, evaluation of individual algorithm blocks.

  • Work cross-functionally with hardware, quality assurance, and other cross-functional teams throughout the product development cycle.
