US Tech Solutions Display Technologies Visual Science Researcher in Mountain View, California

Job Description:

  • The project team works on innovative new tech combining advances in hardware and software with the aim of making communication feel present, immersive, and real, no matter where in the world you are.

  • As a Visual Science Researcher, you’ll support the evaluation and research for Project by collecting and analyzing user feedback and survey data.

Responsibilities:

  • We are looking for a Visual Science Researcher to conduct evaluative and mixed methods research in support of Project.

  • Support existing number of studies (vision comfort).

  • The Visual Science Researcher will work closely with other UX Researchers, vision science researchers, product managers, engineers, and designers to conduct qualitative and quantitative research (e.g., usability testing, perceptual studies, surveys, interviews).

  • The Visual Science Researcher will conduct research projects and support designing, setting up, analyzing, and presenting results from research studies.

  • Manage and support the setup and execution of research studies.

  • Understand study needs, create research plans, organize study materials, define respondent / participant criteria, and organize materials needed for research activities.

Experience (Mandatory):

  • 5-7 years of work experience in relevant graduate-school research experience.

  • Having background in perception research/ vision science.

  • Strong experimental research background.

  • Experience with quantitative analysis.

  • Ability to create rapport, communicate with participants.

  • Ability to execute research studies, qualitative research, understanding of quantitative assessments.

  • Basic familiarity with each of the following methods, and in-depth expertise in one or more of the following: Usability studies, Behavioural science experiments, Concept tests, Perceptual studies, User interviews, Field research, Surveys etc.

  • Solid understanding of and comfort with qualitative methods and foundational research.

  • Strong understanding of experimental design.

  • Familiarity in basic quantitative analysis.

Experience (Desired):

  • Ph. D in Human Factors, Social Sciences, Vision Science, Cognition and Perception, or related field.

  • Experience with SPSS, R, or other data cleaning and analysis tools.

  • Experience and understanding of display technologies.

  • Experience or familiarity with one or more of the following: Psychophysical studies, Perceptual thresholds, Familiarity with aspects of vestibular conflicts, Visual artifacts, and advanced optics etc.

  • At least one year experience conducting research on enterprise-facing products or experiences.
