US Tech Solutions Consumer Electronics Manufacturing/Mechanical Designer in Mountain View, California

Project Overview:

  • Develop the next generation of Watches.

  • You will work on a Mechanical Design team that balances comfort, performance, and appearance in an innovative and harmonious design that complements and enables the technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Must have prior hands-on extensive experience in Mechanical Design for Consumer Electronics products like watches, mobile phones, camera, etc. for the industrial manufacturing purpose.

  • As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll design the next generation of Watches.

  • Drive and lead Joint Design Manufacturing (JDM) teams supporting part design.

  • You will drive the design, analysis, and prototyping of new concepts while working in a manufacturing and product-oriented development environment.

  • Design a complex subsystem and/or multiple moderately complex individual parts from concept to production.

  • Collaborate with suppliers of subsystems and/or individual parts throughout the design and manufacturing process.

  • You’ll collaborate with external vendors and internal cross-functional teams such as Electrical Engineering, Antenna, Industrial Design, Reliability, Operations, and Product to define and deliver excellent products.

  • Identify the root cause of design, manufacturing, or reliability issues and develop corrective actions.

  • Balance design considerations such as functionality, sustainability, reliability, human factors, manufacturability, and aesthetics.

Mandatory Skills/Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in Mechanical Design for Consumer Electronics products like watches, mobile phones, camera, etc. for the industrial manufacturing purpose using NX & TeamCenter.

  • Experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts, mechanical assemblies, printed circuit boards, or flexes.

  • Proficiency with NX and Teamcenter.

  • Understands how to integrate what are important to the customer.

  • Work on devices that are very small, every decision needs to be compromised.

  • Able to communicate with the team, highly collaborative and struggle to find the balance- mechanical engineering and understanding importance of user experience/ beauty of design.

  • 3–5 years of experience (Sr candidates) Track record of shipping devices/ very little oversight, phones/ wearable/ AR VR experience.

  • Experience with NX (CAD)- at least 1 year, Tolerance analysis, Mechanical Design, Consumer products design/ Consumer Electronics.

  • Expertise in creative problem-solving and design skills, clear communication, and a solid base of engineering fundamentals.

  • Strong organizational skills to manage varied responsibilities across the product.

  • Experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts, mechanical assemblies, printed circuit boards, or flexes.

Non-Essential Skills/Qualifications:

  • Experience shipping multiple consumer products in a lead or senior engineer role.

  • 7-8 years of work experience in consumer product design.

  • User experience & user design Industrial security camera.

  • Deep technical knowledge of multiple manufacturing methods used in consumer products.

  • Experience collaborating with suppliers around the world on part manufacturing and final assembly, including onsite factory support.

  • System integration experience, including electro-mechanical components (audio, display, camera, antenna, etc.), waterproofing, thermals, grounding, and/or product architecture.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, mechanical Design, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
