Requisition Summary The PACCAR Technical Center is seeking an experienced Vehicle Performance Engineer to perform full-vehicle and subsystem testing of medium- and heavy-duty commercial trucks to evaluate Noise Vibration Harshness (NVH) qualities of PACCAR products. The successful candidate will possess a strong technical background in noise and acoustics and previous experience testing ground vehicles. Get started! Job Functions / Responsibilities Support product development and design teams with technical consulting and NVH expertise. Provide technical leadership developing truck products focused on customer comfort and satisfaction in the areas of vibration, interior and pass-by noise, and buzz squeak rattle (BSR). Develop project plans that define test deliverables, scope of activities, labor and material costs, and schedules. Manage execution of multiple projects and their subsystem or vehicle-level tests to deliver results on time and within budget, coordinating resources and working closely with support groups. Analyze complex data to form accurate conclusions. Communicate test results stating clear recommendations and proposals to design teams and engineering management. Publish technical project reports to document test scope, methods, results, and conclusions. Continually improve the processes used to guide engineering decisions, while striving to increase test efficiency and data quality. Support related technical groups in the development of new vehicle technologies, including autonomous driving features, battery electric and alternative fuel vehicles, etc. Qualifications 10+ years of relevant work experience with a strong background in NVH principles such as acoustics, sound quality metrics, and modal dynamics for motor vehicles. Experience with compliance type testing such as pass-by noise to meet regulatory requirements. Experience with setup of cab interior and chassis NVH measurements for conducting vehicle-level and subsystem testing. Experience in conducting Buzz Squeak Rattle (BSR) subjective evaluations on full vehicles and subsystems using road/track and laboratory shake testing. Basic knowledge of experimental modal testing and Operational Deflection Shape (ODS) analysis for understanding of resonant and dynamic responses. Knowledge of NVH instrumentation with test sensors including accelerometers, microphones, shakers, and modal impact hammers. Familiarity with NVH test equipment, data processing techniques, and analysis software such as Siemens LMS Testlab, HEAD Acoustics, B & K Pulse, or Dewesoft systems.
