We are looking for a driven Calibration Supervisor to join our Vehicle Calibration team. The specific focus will be the calibration and in-vehicle verification of heavy-duty and medium-duty vehicle functions. The selected individual will work in a global, cross-divisional, and innovative team to supervise development and calibration of “Best in Class” vehicle functions for North America.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Receive, prioritize, and assign project requests in support of truck division development programs.

  • Communicate project scheduling, issues, and progress with division engineering.

  • Coordinate between appropriate PTC groups to gather required test data.

  • Support, create and maintain departmental procedures.

  • Develop, maintain, and report test and calibration progress metrics by program.

  • Assess operational needs (processes, staffing, equipment) and provide inputs to management.

  • Uses engineering principles and experience to integrate, calibrate, and optimize vehicle performance functionality via in-vehicle testing of vehicle control system software

  • Actively participates in the calibration, verification, release, and implementation of software for NA vehicles

  • Develops and executes test plans for requirements verification and reports any discovered defects

  • Provides technical feedback on proposed product changes

  • Provides support to the running business group in the calibration, verification, and release of running change software releases

  • Provides relevant input to the development, communication, and management of vehicle calibration plans, including timing, quality, and budget

  • Translates customer requirements into software calibration data and configurations for the organization

  • Provides technical support to the Control, Software, and Validation Teams with testing, root cause analysis, and defect resolution

  • Stays current on software functionality and product requirements for their assigned functions

  • Identifies opportunities or provides input for new initiatives to improve calibration and testing methods for higher efficiency and effectiveness

  • Maintains positive working relationships with other groups and PACCAR divisions

    Required Qualifications

  • BS in appropriate technical field

  • 6+ years of experience

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office

  • Experience with diesel engines and Class 5-8 vehicles

  • Experience using software emulation tools to conduct testing

  • Experience developing data analysis scripts

  • Current Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability and desire to obtain

  • Knowledge of vehicle and powertrain management systems and performance

  • Knowledge of in-vehicle calibration, data acquisition systems, OBD, and vehicle control systems

  • Knowledge of automotive communication protocols: J1939, UDS, XCP, Ethernet, CAN-bus, LIN-bus

  • Ability to work well independently and as a team leader

  • Ability to summarize technical issues and communicate effectively

  • Self-directed, excellent analysis and engineering judgment required

  • Organized and disciplined with ability to manage personal workload and a willingness and initiative to respond to shifting time and project demands.

  • Ability to travel up to 10%

    Desired Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience with vehicle development, integration, or testing

  • MS in technical field

  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience

  • Knowledge of PACCAR systems and project management
