Requisition Summary

PACCAR, global manufacturer of heavy-duty transportation equipment, including Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF trucks, seeks a Field Test Engineer. The successful candidate will organize and monitor field tests of new or modified components and be responsible for customer and dealer interface to assure correct component installation and maintenance. The position compiles results and assists in failure analysis. They will be on-call to support customer issues during off-shift hours, as well as working with customers at their sites requiring up to 30% travel.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts projects of moderate scope with minimal supervision

  • Analyzes project requests, discusses project requirements with requestors and formulates preliminary project plans, budgets and schedules

  • Designs fixtures and specifies instrumentation, equipment, vehicles, loading configurations, and data processing techniques

  • Participates in set up of tests, verifies that test equipment and instrumentation equipment meets specified requirements and performs preliminary data checks

  • Participates in data collection and analysis

  • Writes reports, as appropriate, incorporating results, conclusions, and recommendations

  • Conducts field tests

  • Undertake activities to develop existing and improved test methodologies as needed

  • Present results of test or investigative projects to divisions or management personnel as needed

  • Present observations of product performance and/or reliability to divisions or management personnel as required.

  • Fosters good communications, establishes and maintains cooperative and productive work relations with all other departments and managers

Qualifications

  • BS degree in appropriate engineering discipline, with 3-5 years of relevant work experience

  • Ability to work well in a team environment

  • Excellent technical and communications skills

  • Ability to manage personal workload and willingness, flexibility and initiative to respond to shifting time and project demands

  • Working knowledge of PACCAR products is desired

  • Mechanical aptitude and experience preferred

Education

BS degree in appropriate engineering discipline
