Requisition Summary The Engine Test Lab Operations Manager will work at PACCAR's Engine Test Laboratory (ETL) in Mount Vernon, Washington. This manager will lead a group of engineers and technicians who are responsible for running and managing powertrain testing activities as well as maintaining and upgrading ETL instrumentation, facilities, and software systems. Job Functions / Responsibilities Responsible for supervision, coordination, and development of engineers and technicians performing and supporting testing in engine and powertrain test cells Provide expertise to plan and conduct performance, durability, and emissions testing of heavy-duty on-highway powertrain systems to support program goals of European and North American PACCAR divisions. Lead facility, instrumentation, and software upgrades to keep the lab abreast of applicable regulatory changes and emerging technologies. Responsible for a team of engineers and technicians performing certification testing and ensuring the laboratory is compliant with 40 CFR Part 1065 Work with PACCAR colleagues to align EU and US powertrain testing facilities and procedures Assess operational needs, including processes, staffing, and equipment, and provide input to higher management Identify and implement processes to improve the quality and efficiency of powertrain testing, emissions measurement, and data processing in the ETL Mentor ETL staff with regard to cell and engine operation, emissions measurement practices, data analysis, and quality validation Use PACCAR's capital budget system to secure funds for facility upgrades and major repairs Establish and maintain cooperative and productive work relations with other departments and divisions Qualifications Minimum 10 years work experience performing powertrain testing in an engine and emissions test laboratory Knowledge of diesel engine and exhaust aftertreatment system operation and control systems Thorough understanding of industry and regulatory standards, including 40 CFR Part 86, 1036, 1037, and 1065 Desire to work with ETL staff, fostering teamwork and employee development Ability to summarize technical issues and communicate effectively Self-directed with excellent analysis skills, technical judgment, and attention to detail Prior supervisory or team lead experience preferred Proficiency using AVL test cell automation systems (Puma and Concerto) Work experience performing heavy-duty on-highway engine certification Experience performing engine or exhaust aftertreatment calibration Education BS degree in Engineering; MS preferred Paccar Benefits As a U.S. PACCAR employee, you have a full range of benefit options including: Competitive salary and 401k with up to a 5% company match Fully funded pension plan that provides monthly benefits after retirement Comprehensive paid time off - Minimum of 10 paid vacation days, 12 paid holidays, and sick leave Tuition reimbursement for continued education Medical, den
