PACCAR Inc. Control Systems Supervisor in Mount Vernon, Washington

PACCAR's Embedded Engineering department has an opening for a Embedded Software Supervisor. This position will manage a team of Control System Engineers for the Autonomous Vehicle Platform Program. The successful candidate must coordinate Embedded Engineering product development to meet program schedules and budgets. You will lead engineers to develop model-based vehicle control-system functionality, rapidly prototype the functionality on-vehicle to validate the design and document the system requirements. Successful candidates will demonstrate individual creativity in addressing challenges and opportunities while working within a supportive team to develop industry-leading solutions. This position will be a part of a global engineering team; including our Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF subsidiaries while residing at PACCAR Technical Center. Job Functions / Responsibilities Lead a team of engineers to develop control system architecture, technical requirements, and component design specifications for PACCAR powertrain, vehicle, and autonomous control systems. Lead a team of engineers to prototype and validate system functionality on-vehicle using Simulink model-based design. Perform and communicate within a distributed cross-functional team of embedded engineers that design, validate, and implement vehicle controls and functionality. Develop and maintain department and program resource plans and budgets related to your development team. Provide written and verbal updates to PACCAR senior management on product development progress, program objectives, department strategic goals, or globally aligned roadmaps. Actively participate in scrum teams to develop industry-leading, high-quality, reliable electronic system designs, software, and architecture. Recruit, mentor, train, and develop engineers. Up to 10% travel (domestic and international) Qualifications & Skills Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline required. Advanced degree or P.E. desired. 8+ years of relevant work experience Demonstrated engineering leadership experience. Knowledge of powertrain and vehicle electrical systems. Knowledge of control systems, software development, and architecture on commercial or passenger vehicles. Proficiency using Mathworks Simulink. Experience with automotive or commercial vehicle networks, such as CAN, SAE J1939, and LIN. Experience with requirement management toolchains such as IBM Rational DOORS Next Generation is desirable. Experience with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) control systems for autonomous trucks or passenger vehicles is desirable. Ability to work well independently and in a team environment with strong organizational skills. Ability to travel up to 10% including international travel.
