SKAGIT HABITAT FOR HUMANITY Cashier in MOUNT VERNON, Washington

TITLE: Cashier

REPORT TO: Store Manager

SUMMARY: The Cashier oversees all register transactions, deals directly with the general public, and other duties as assigned.

Understands and promotes the mission of Skagit Habitat for Humanity

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Controls the day-to-day operations in the following areas of responsibility:

1. Administrative:

a. Inputs all sales and exchanges into the register accurately.

b. Ensures adherence to established pricing and sales procedures.

c. Completes closing reports and/or drawer counts and locates any inaccuracies.

d. Accurately completes the deposit envelope at the end of the day. (Depending on shift worked)

e. Answer and process incoming calls. Take and pass along phone messages as needed.

2. Customer Service:

a. Greet incoming customers.

b. Respond to customer inquires.

c. Process incoming donations as needed.

d. Assist with load-outs as needed.

e. Provide information about Habitat for Humanity as requested.

3. Other Duties:

a. Assist and direct the work of volunteers as needed.

b. Price items as requested, using the internet or other means.

c. Check office equipment for supplies on a regular basis.

d. Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

1. At least 1 year of customer service skills and/or cash register experience.

2. Computer skills, including inventory control, point of sales, Excel, Word, and QuickBooks preferred.

3. Demonstrated ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealings with customers, volunteers and other staff members.

4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

5. Good problem-solving ability

6. Ability to take directions.

7. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, stand for prolonged periods of time, and walk on unimproved surfaces while accomplishing the work tasks.

8. Must submit to Background Checks and random drug screening.

9. Ability to pass a basic, timed math test.

EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent.

This is a full-time position, up to 40 hours/week, Tuesday - Saturday, 10pm - 6pm.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
