WorkLink Staffing Shift Supervisor - Coating Department in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania

Coating Shift Supervisor

  • Location: Mount Pleasant
  • Pay Rate $60,000 - $75,000 annually
  • Schedule:  5:30 PM - 6:15 AM, 12 - hour shift, on a 2-2-3 schedule

The Coating Shift Supervisor will be responsible for supervision, operation, production, and employee performance on a designated shift under the 2-2-3 schedule. Under direction of Coating management, the shift supervisor will lead production teams toward the achievement of safety, quality, and productivity goals.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Train new operators and cross-train existing operators
  • Filling in for the supervisor as needed
  • Verifying production data
  • Resolving quality issues during production
  • Verifying the mixing schedule based on the coating schedule
  • Perform shift walk through report
  • Enforce safety rules and regulations
  • Coordinate device roll repair
  • Operate a coating machine and produce the correctly coated ink ribbon.
  • Load new rolls onto machine
  • Measuring and mixing chemicals
  • Keeping adequate amounts of mixing materials in the mixing area at all times
  • Operate production machines according to the appropriate "machine operator's manual" under direction of the Group Leader and Technical staff.
  • Identify and correct potential safety concerns
  • Perform product changeovers to the coating machine. Activities not limited to roll exchanges, roll cleaning, doctor blade exchanges, threading, filter changes, parts cleaning and material handling.
  • Sampling jumbo rolls and performing required testing and recording findings
  • Palletize rolls when necessary
  • Labeling jumbo rolls and moving to the storage rack
  • Coordinate activities with maintenance, operation, management and other as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot basic equipment and process problems
  • Charge ink raw materials and organic solvents into an ink production device in a measured & controlled manner thus producing a coat-able solution per established specification.
  • Lead in basic maintenance activities by having input and explanation to what needs to be done. 
  • Assist where possible, making sure activities are scheduled and completed in a timely manner.
  • Initiate and coordinate productivity improvement plans and cost reduction plans (Total Productive Maintenance activity).
  • Investigate and analyze causes for defective product or production inefficacies.

Education and/or Experience

 

  • High School Diploma or GED; or related experience and/or training; or combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and a proficient ability to work in all areas of the coating and mixing progress
  • Experience in mixing/blending chemicals preferred
  • Prior product manufacturing experience preferred
  • Demonstrated mechanical and troubleshooting aptitude
  • Experience operating a computer preferred
  • Must be able to multitask, prioritize, and work in a high-stress team environment
  • The ability to read and interpret job orders, specifications and production schedules.
  • Must be able to enter data into computerized ERP system and manual work orders.
  • The ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to interface and communicate effectively
  • Effectively read and comprehend instructions sufficiently enough to perform the work required
  • Must be able to use and read instruments including micrometers, microscopes, light table, hand tools and other equipment required for coating
  • Must be able to operate appropriate test equipment and react to the readings generated or displayed on monitors, gauges, panels and sensors
  • Reasoning ability -- the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved wr tten or oral instructions. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. 
  • Ability to work independently and take appropriate corrective action when minor problems arise.
