Position Summary:

Under the supervision of Medical Clinic Director, participate as an essential team member in the Medical Clinic. Assist providers and health care team in direct patient care according to established policies, procedures, and protocols including performing laboratory functions and assisting in direct patient care, medical procedures, patient education. Assist with administrative/clerical responsibilities as needed. All Nimkee staff must adhere to mandated reporting laws.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Receive and greets patients, directing and assisting them to triage and examination areas.

Assess patient's vital signs, history of present illness (HPI), review of systems, family history and medical needs due. Record findings in E.H.R. and alert Primary Care Provider (PCP) to any abnormal findings.

Assist Medical Provider with paperwork and completion of paperwork; request outside reports from the ER, Urgent Care, and outside providers to ensure continuity of care and transition planning.

Collect blood (by venipuncture or finger stick), urine, stool and other specimens, throat cultures and sputum specimens as requested by provider and with adherence to established policies, procedures and precautions.

Complete laboratory requests and properly label laboratory specimens.

Complete Point of Care Testing Controls according to guidelines.

Perform Point of Care Testing and document results and put in charges for services in EHR.

Administer patient injections and immunizations; record in EHR and MICR, and maintain reminder schedule.

Perform wound care, bandaging, suture and staple removal as required.

Chaperone and assist providers with patient exams as required

Educate patients on how to use home equipment or how to perform self -injections

Educate patients on how to put on their removable braces

Place follow up calls to patients as needed

Assist in obtaining assistance for patient needs such as transportation, social services, etc.

Prepare exam rooms and gather instrument
