Technical Event Specialist

Position Summary:

Responsible for assisting University Events with the on-site supervision of technical operations related to the setup, production, and breakdown of events and engagements. Responsible for operating and maintaining complex audio and theatrical lighting systems.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED. Two years of experience in production services including audio, lighting, staging and rigging. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive and calm attitude. Willingness to work varied hours due to production schedule. Ability to problem-solve, lead, instruct, handle a large variety of details and to work with all levels of organization. High level of energy and ability to relate well to others. Ability to convert complex technical knowledge into manageable daily instructions. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree. Student supervisory experience. Computer expertise. Experience in event production in a university setting.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Provides technical expertise for event production and reviews technical manuals for application. Assists in the management of production equipment and facilities for use compliance. Maintains equipment inventory, troubleshoots equipment malfunctions, and recommends equipment expenditures if necessary. Completes duties and responsibilities in compliance with departmental standards, policies, and guidelines and adheres to timely documentation and assessment.

Pay Range: $14.00 - $22.79 per hour, estimated starting rate: $14.00 - $17.00
