EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The food service worker position needs to have the ability to prepare and serve food as directed and perform other duties as directly related to the scope of the general job description. They must also have the genuine desire to serve students and staff as valuable customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Follows all USDA and sanitation regulations as pertinent to the school nutrition service program;
  • Prepares, serves and cleans all food items and equipment as per instruction from Manager and/or Director, as necessary;
  • Verifies any food produced meets quality
  • Fill out cleaning logs, production records and temperature logs
  • Knows how/ability to learn how to use food service computer system.
  • Attends all in-service meetings, workshops, and trainings as scheduled by the Director;
  • Practices good customer service with all staff, students, and other customers;
  • Prepares food and/or works any special functions as assigned, by the Director;
  • Reports any unsafe equipment or work hazards to the Manager, as needed;
  • Assists with implementation of HACCP plan and implementation of the plan;
  • Performs functions of other nutrition services positions for the purpose of ensuring each station/job/function is completed on a daily basis, as needed.

If assigned to cashier task:

  • Ensure that if student purchasing a meal it is appropriately entered in to the POS system as a reimbursable meal or non-reimbursable meal.

EVALUATION:

The food service worker will be evaluated by the administrator at least annually in accordance with law, board policy, and the preceding job description.
