Asphalt Plant Operator

An Asphalt Plant Operator is responsible for safely starting up and operating a hot mix asphalt plant to maintain production goals; perform repairs and maintenance as needed

Essential Duties and Responsibilities but are not limited to the following:

  • -Schedule and perform maintenance on recycle and asphalt plant

  • -Operate plant and perform daily maintenance on that plant

  • -Willingness to learn to operate Asphalt plant in high production setting

  • -Maintain equipment in a clean and orderly condition, inside and out

  • -Safety first approach to all activities

  • -Operate Loader, Skid steer and dump truck in accordance with production

  • -Must have flexible work schedule with willingness to work weekends and nights

  • -The position may also require occasional night and Sunday work

  • -Participates in or daily/weekly meetings

  • -Operates plant while maximizing material production and minimizing plant interruptions and/or breakdowns

Education/Experience

  • -Ability to perform strenous work

  • -Must have some basic mathmatical skills

  • -Good penmanship, record keeping, and basic computer skills

  • -Ability to follow verbal and written instruction

  • -Ability to communicate effectively over the radio

  • -High School diploma or GED equivalent

Minimum Skills and Requirements

  • -Must be a Self Motivated Person who can work well on their own in a plant environment

  • -Knowledge to supervise plant employees to ensure safety standards (Company and Osha) are maintained

  • -Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals

  • -Always maintain a Cooperative/Courteous and Professional Manner with co-workers, public, and customers

  • -Attendance Policy must be adhered to at all times in order to maintain efficiency at the plant

  • -Maintenance and upkeep of plant will be the responsibility of the plant operator

  • -Ability to be flexible with last minutes Schedule/Location/Shift changes as workload dictates
