Caterpillar Inc. seeks Sr Engineer-PERF/SIM/APP at its facility located at 14009 Old Galena Rd., Bldg L, Chillicothe, Illinois 61523. Develop and validate engine and aftertreatment control systems for current and future diesel, dual fuel, and spark ignited natural gas engine products, including: control and simulation requirements development, modeling of control algorithms for system simulation and control software generation, modeling of engine and engine subsystem physical dynamics, and system simulation and performance analysis, all supporting diesel engines, dual fuel engines, spark ignited natural gas engines, and aftertreatment systems with a focus on control system design, analysis, and validation. REQS: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related field and 5 years of experience developing the performance, controls, or behavioral system simulations of heavy-duty: diesel engines, spark ignited engines, dual fuel engines, engine aftertreatment systems and subsystems or related occupation. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related field and 2 years of experience developing the performance, controls, or behavioral system simulations of heavy-duty: diesel engines, spark ignited engines, dual fuel engines, engine aftertreatment systems and subsystems or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) MATLAB; (2) Simulink with Control Systems Toolbox; (3) Vector CANape; (4) GTPower; (5) Classical control theory with Single Input Single Output (SISO) systems; (6) Control system development process, including verification and validation process for the same through simulation, bench testing and on-engine testing; and (7) 2 years of product development experience using NPI and NTI process. 10% domestic travel to support troubleshooting issues at customer sites.
