\ Positions Contributions to Work Group:\ - Responsible for the day-to-day operation of part of the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) test lab.\ \ Purpose of this team\ - We provide EMC testing to global design teams. The person in this role will work on the next generation of electronics for client\'s equipment including fully electric machines, autonomous systems, controls, sensors, and displays.\ \ Reason/motivation for request:\ - Addition to meet growing EMC test requirements as a result of new technology.\ \ Typical Day in the Role\ Typical task breakdown:\ - Setup for test.\ - Run tests.\ - Troubleshoot failures found during testing.\ - Whenever possible, provide regulatory and RF physics consulting help to clients.\ - Document test results.\ - Maintain test equipment\ \ Interaction with team:\ - Work with Sr. Technicians to plan tests and maintain test equipment.\ - Work with EMC Engineers to provide EMC consulting about designs and regulations.\ - Work with clients to troubleshoot their products and ensure test methods cover possible field conditions.\ \ Work environment:\ - EMC test lab.\ \ Candidate Requirements\ Education & Experience Required:\ - 2-year electronics degree preferred.\ - Experience is not required, but examples of experiences a top candidate might have include:\ o Ham radio or software defined radio work or hobby\ o General electronics experience\ o Radio Frequency electronics experience\ o Electronic lab equipment like Spectrum analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Power Meters, Amplifies, Signal Generators, and Network Analyzers.\ \ Technical Skills\ (Required)\ - Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems on a variety of systems\ - Understanding of basic electronics concepts such capacitance.\ -\ (Desired)\ - General computer use, MS office, etc.\ - Soldering, crimping, reading a circuit diagram.\ - Understanding of radio frequency physics.\ \ Soft Skills\ (Required)\ - Attention to detail.\ - Ability to take ownership of projects without constant oversight.\ - Ability to work with a diverse team.\ - Thrive in an environment where there is always something new to learn.\ - Effective communication with team and negotiable skills\ \ (Desired)\ - Detailed documentation of results.\ - Ability to explain a complex topic to an audience unfamiliar with the topic.\ \ Disqualifiers/Red Flags:\ - Satellite or wireless internet instillation jobs have tended to result in an unhelpful viewpoint on some similar sounding topics - not disqualifying, but not a positive source of experience.
