Job Summary:

The position is in the Advanced Materials Technology (AMT) Development Team located on Caterpillar’s Technical Center campus in Mossville, IL. The role is focused on eMaterials, which are materials related to electrified components and vehicles. Emphasis will be on new technology development and issue resolution related to generator and motor components as well as batteries and other electronic components.

What You Will Do:

· For applications primarily within electrified machines and products, lead selection, application, and validation of materials technologies to meet performance and cost targets

· Project leadership and execution including establishing project success criteria with internal clients, managing project plans and budgets, communicating to stakeholders and suppliers, and meeting committed project deliverables

· Engineering technical support and problem-solving related to materials, supplier capability, and specification development

· Directing work and establishing collaboration with external labs/universities

Education Requirement:

· B.S. in Materials Science & Engineering

Technical Excellence:

• Effectively performs the technical job aspects, continuously building knowledge and keeping up-to-date on technical and procedural job components

• Applies current procedures and technologies to help resolve technical issues in one's general area of technical competence

• Prior experience in automotive or heavy equipment manufacturing

• Experience and education related to non-metallic materials, non-ferrous alloys, conductors, dielectrics, magnets, adhesives, and similar

Product Testing:

• Documents test process and results; prepares and analyzes defect-tracking reports

• Tests components for compliance with functional requirements and established conventions

• Develops product-testing procedures; participates in selecting testing environment and tools

• Knowledge of electrified products design or performance

• Skills in battery enclosure and support systems fabrication, joining, and testing techniques

• Skills in electrical property characterization techniques

Additional Information

The location for this position is Mossville, IL.

Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

This position may require up to 10% travel.
