Payroll Specialist The Payroll Specialist performs high volume, highly complex, and independent payroll support duties utilizing a payroll software system. Ensure pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintaining payroll records by updating changes in exemptions, direct deposits, and employee deductions.

• Collecting and summarizing timekeeping data from various sources into Sage HRMS Payroll software.

• Processing of all aspects of a multi-state, biweekly payroll accurately and timely, including auditing and reconciling, following all applicable laws, policies, and procedures.

• Distributing pay cards to employees.

• Submitting ACH payroll files to bank for processing.

• Working closely with Human Resources, Area Coaches, and Directors to research and resolve payroll issues.

• Processing and distributing off-cycle paychecks as necessary.

• Processing, maintaining, and prioritizing garnishments and submitting withholdings to agencies timely.

• Being a point of contact for employees with payroll questions or concerns.

• Compiling and analyzing payroll data as requested by Managers and Directors.

• Assisting with monthly and quarterly payroll account reconciliations.

• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associates degree or higher education in Business or related field.

• Proficiency with payroll and accounting.

• Knowledge of ACA reporting requirements, payroll and labor laws.

• Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

• Working knowledge of state and federal payroll and labor laws and regulations.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office with a demonstrated proficiency in Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3 years direct payroll processing experience.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.

• Ability to work with others in a team environment.
