Affordable Care Payroll Specialist in Morrisville, North Carolina

Overview

The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing time sheets and payroll changes, maintaining employee payroll files and responding to employee inquiries regarding paychecks. This individual will partner with the Payroll Manager to ensure that the company’s biweekly payroll runs are processed accurately and within the scheduled deadlines.

Essential Job Duties for the Payroll Specialist •Responsible for the creation and preparation of bi-weekly payroll

  • Process review and ensure payroll reports are accurate

  • Prepare ad hoc reports in response to requests from users within other departments

  • Follow up with various department supervisors with questions on missing or incomplete timecards

  • Compile and input payroll data such as W-4’s, direct deposits, garnishments, additional pay, and other payroll related items such as benefit deductions etc.

  • Develop and document internal payroll processes and procedures

  • Perform calculations, prepare final checks and paperwork for separated employees

  • Respond and resolve employee questions and/or problems in a timely manner

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Responsibilities

Technical and/or Functional Skills & Knowledge

  • Understanding the principles of HR and Payroll systems, concepts, practices, and standards

  • Experience with Ultimate Software is desired, ADP knowledge is a plus

  • Knowledge of commonly used payroll concepts, practices, and procedures

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Thorough understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws

  • Intermediate computer skills

  • Microsoft Office – strong Excel skills a plus

Qualifications

Qualifications for the Payroll Specialist

  • 3-5 years payroll processing experience in all aspects of payroll

  • Knowledge of payroll reporting and processing
