Description and Requirements

The Director, Physical Security role is for a dynamic leader who will oversee the company’s global physical security program across Lenovo facilities, including offices, data centers, and manufacturing sites, working with stakeholders across Lenovo to enhance business operations by identifying and mitigating physical security risks. The Director will work within the Chief Security Office and partner with the broader global security team to ensure alignment with Lenovo policies and standards developing region-specific plans to drive the execution of short, mid, and long-term goals for global physical security objectives and related compliance programs. The plans will support a robust physical security model, aligned with industry standards, to effectively protect Lenovo assets including workplace security, site security audits & assessments, investigations, contract security services, and other areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops, directs and drives value through global physical security strategies and programs aligned with industry standard practices.

  • Directs the development and implementation of physical security governance and strategic planning.

  • Directs global physical Security operations and incident response.

  • Leads and directs protective services programs (travel, event and executive security).

  • Directs and oversees physical security compliance with Lenovo or industry program standards and performs risk assessments for Lenovo facilities globally.

  • Directs and conducts investigations and/or assessments of serious incidents, hostile/threatening situations, and other highly sensitive matters.

  • Directs Physical Security Information Systems (PSIM) strategic planning and oversees installations or upgrades in collaboration with project sponsors and vendors.

  • Manages global operational and capital budgets in conjunction with regional physical security managers and corporate finance teams.

  • Oversees vendor and contractor service relationships.

  • Manages physical security regional managers and team members within their region.

  • Establishes physical security operational performance metrics and reporting, including KPIs for incident response times, security breaches, and compliance rates.

  • Liaisons with industry peers, law enforcement agencies and first responders regarding mutual security or safety concerns.

  • Fosters a company-wide security culture through training and socialization of best practices.

  • Collaborates with IT, HR, and legal departments to ensure comprehensive security management and compliance.

  • Leads crisis management initiatives and integrates with business continuity planning.

  • Integrates advanced security technologies and data analytics for proactive security management.

Basic Qualifications / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, security management, Public Administration, Business Management, or related field

  • 15+ years’ experience on a corporate security team with progressive management roles or equivalent with 5+ years of leading global corporate physical security programs

  • Expertise in a security related field, including security risk management and associated operational processes that support a highly matrixed and progressive corporate physical security organization.

  • Experience with emerging security technologies and physical security design and corporate site launches.

  • Experience in Contract Security management

  • Experience with industry certification programs and compliance such as TAPA or ISO certifications

  • Experience in developing and leading implementation and maintenance of security policies and procedures, managing relationships with third party providers, and identifying industry best practices.

  • Executive level briefing skills

  • Intermediate to advanced use of Microsoft Suite, as well as project management software

  • Advanced skills in maintaining operational and capital budgets.

  • Ability to communicate complex issues effectively, verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to travel internationally and pose the cultural competence and adaptability to work in different regional contexts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a security or related field

  • CPP, PSP, PMP or similar certification

  • Strong working knowledge of physical security systems and processes

  • Expertise in workplace incident management and investigations

  • Crisis Management expertise
