Description and Requirements

Join Lenovo’s corporate Global ESG team as an Advisory Engineer responsible for Lenovo’s corporate circular economy programs. This role will be based in Morrisville, North Carolina or remote and report to the Senior Manager, Global ESG Operations.

Job Responsibilities

The Advisory Engineer will drive Lenovo’s global corporate circular economy programs to achieve regulatory compliance and voluntary targets. The position will work in close collaboration with product development engineering teams, Services & Solutions Group, and Global Supply Chain to harmonize circular economy requirements and be the primary corporate subject matter expert (SME). The position will support circular economy related elements of Lenovo’s ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) implementation and corporate commitments related to circular economy. As part of the corporate ESG team, the position will work with cross functional teams to meet customer requirements and Lenovo’s environmental goals.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Track and analyze global emerging and existing circular economy requirements including packaging, repairability, and durability and provide requirements for Lenovo’s corporate product environmental specifications.

  • Support product development teams and other business areas as circular economy SME.

  • Drive requirements and improve processes for packaging extended producer responsibility (EPR) reporting and regulatory requirements (e.g. annual reporting, material bans, recycled content mandates, and source reduction)

  • Drive cross function team collaboration to comply with product repairability regulatory and voluntary requirements.

  • Track regulatory due dates and prepare reports or other submissions to regulatory agencies.

  • Support sales and customer account teams with responses to requests for information, customer proposals, questionnaires, presentations and participate in customer meetings/events as corporate SME.

  • Support ecolabel program criteria compliance and verification (e.g. EPEAT and TCO Certified).

  • Collaborate with the Government Relations team and engage with external NGOs, industry trade organizations and others to drive the development of responsible regulations.

  • Assist extended global ESG team with additional projects as needed.

Job Requirements

  • 8 years of relevant experience in product development / engineering, environmental or regulatory compliance, environmental engineering, or related fields.

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field

  • Participation in global meetings outside of standard working hours

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field.

  • Experience with environmental regulatory compliance or management systems implementation (e.g ISO 14001, EPEAT).

  • Experience with product or packaging circular economy, right to repair, recycling, sustainability, or extended producer responsibility.

  • Knowledge of corporate level ESG programs (e.g. ISO 14001)

  • Strong project management skills to execute cross functional projects.

  • Ability to build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

  • Self-starter who proactively identifies risks/issues and develops innovative solutions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English for communication of technical requirements to diverse stakeholders and management.

*We are open to this role being worked remote for someone located in the US.
