Description/Job Summary

Department: Slitting

Reports to: Production Supervisor

Position Overview

The Slitting Technician is responsible for the proper set-up of the slitting machine and to ensure each roll is cut with accuracy, according to the customer specifications. They are also responsible for the proper use of the slitter; the preventive maintenance and housekeeping of the equipment and the area.

Essential Job Functions

Verify customer requirements by reviewing specifications

Have the ability to read all aspects fo the set-up order and understand each

Having the ability to identify exception codes and industrial codes to ensure customers are receiving materials fit for use in their application

Make good quality assessments on each roll and grade accordingly (hardness, visuals, treatment)

Must be able to work with ALL computer system connected with the scope of the machine

Knowledge and understanding of all components of the slitter and their purpose

How to set-up the machine, according to the customer order both Manually and Automatic

Have the ability to perform the basic function on the machine

Operate the designated crane for the machine and the service crane in a safe and controlled manner

Enter data into the Syteline computer and understand the functions of roll data, pallet data, and printing set-up data

Must have basic troubleshooting skills and the ability to make adjustments to rewind stations to ensure the customer receives a roll conforming to our set standards

Ability to work with trim systems including setup and operation

Ability to splice according to customer specifications; Butt splice and Lap splice

Maintain good housekeeping and safe working environment

Interact and communicate with packers, production supervisor, lead technician, and other slitting technicians as required

Ability to operate a forklift

Assist in any function of the Slitting department as requested by your lead operator and/or supervisor

Product Safety

Complies with all SQF procedures

Reports any food safety problems to a member of management or SQF Practitioner

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED

Ability to bend, stoop, and lift continuously

Fork Truck Certified

Ability to lift 50lbs.

Basic computer knowledge

Safety glasses, ear plugs, and steel toe shoes is required on some or all jobs

Work on a specified 12 hour shift and must be able and willing to work overtime on an as needed basis

Weekends and evening work is required

Other Skills/Abilities

Ability to work as a team member

Self-motivated and the ability to plan ahead

Slitting experience (Preferred)
