Atlantic Health System Unit Associate I, Per Diem, Days, Pediatric Day Hospital in Morristown, New Jersey

  • Liaison between patients, families, visitors, volunteers, and hospital personnel Functions as unit receptionist. Answer phones promptly and direct callers appropriately. Uses telephone standard. Answers questions and provides information requested. Greets visitors with respect and promptness. Utilize paging system and respond promptly to patient calls. Directs volunteers and follows through on their assignment. Remains updated on organizational standards in order to maintain role efficiency.

  • Utilize information system Ensure all hospital information systems are functioning. Perform routine computer upgrades.

  • Maintain Clinical Information Systems printer: cartridge availability and changes, keep loaded with paper and labels, clear paper jams. Facilitate repair of equipment by notifying PC support, computer room, and plant engineering as necessary. Maintain competency in use of all needed information systems.

  • Resource person for hospital information system and clerical duties Updates Unit Representative manual as changes occur. Instruct nursing personnel in utilization of hospital information system. Trouble shoots nursing unit computer problems. Explains clerical duties to new nursing staff.

  • Maintain updated patient information Keep appropriate staff aware of any changes in patient information.

  • Keep manager informed of any coverage issues.

  • Consistently responds to patients needs in a timely manner Consistently respects the patients right to privacy and dignity Consistently respects the patients’ rights to confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines Fosters a positive and pleasant environment, which promotes our shared values.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills

  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Word and Excel required

  • Epic preferred

    Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • 1 year of college preferred

    Relevant Experience:

  • Prior administrative and/or patient care experience in health care strongly preferred
