Atlantic Health System Staff Accountant - Jr in Morris Plains, New Jersey

Position Summary: Prepares and analyzes monthly financial reports, maintains general ledger account integrity, maintain intercompany accounts, and provides support to Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Must possess exceptional Excel skills to interpret large amounts of data, analyze results providing ongoing reports

  • Prepare and post monthly general journal entries to accounting software, including but not limited to revenue, payroll, accounts payable, cash receipts, and depreciation.

  • Complete daily cash transfers and create and post journal entries related to transfers, if applicable

  • Prepare multiple monthly bank reconciliations.

  • Collect data necessary for month-end close process.

  • Intercompany analysis, balancing of multiple entity’s accounts. Work through all variances and process to maintain on-going balance reconciliations

  • Perform clearing entries related to pass through locations

  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly financial statements.

  • Research & respond to expense inquires following each month-end close.

  • Monthly general ledger account analysis/ reconciliation including but not limited to preparation of adjustments (reallocations, accruals, reclassifications) when necessary, prior to month-end close.

  • Reconcile intercompany amounts monthly with Atlantic Health System corporate for each entity

  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.

  • Prepare, process and analysis on revenue schedules as necessary.

  • Prepare schedules and analysis related to year-end audit, ensuring accuracy of presentation of financial reporting.

  • Contribute to special projects as requested.

    Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • Minimum 1-2 years previous accounting experience required.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Knowledge of non-profit healthcare and for-profit accounting a plus.

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, oral & written communication.

  • Microsoft Office, with expert Excel knowledge, adept at VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables and macros

  • NetSuite software, Oracle experience a plus.

  • Ability to multi-task effectively and not be easily overwhelmed by a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be able to think critically, be organized and have the ability to identify and solve problems.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 5 – 10 lb. boxes for archiving files.
