The Cigna Group Oracle Database Administration Senior Advisor - Evernorth Health Services - Hybrid in Morris Plains, New Jersey

Enterprise Database Services is looking for a Senior Oracle Database Engineer to partner and help drive the vision of providing a best in industry array of database platform offerings that align with Cigna’s business needs across the enterprise and provide them in a secure and automated way.

Requirements:

  • Provides counsel and advice to management and Engineers on significant Database Administration & Management matters, often requiring coordination between organizations.

  • Collaborate with Stakeholders, Tech lead and Team members to discuss the requirements and implement in an efficient way.

  • Analyzes, designs, creates and implements solutions for complex environment including automated installation, configuration, maintenance and operation of all infrastructure services in a way that supports speed, agility, security and resiliency.

  • Interprets internal or external issues and recommends solutions/best practices.

  • Liaisons with database software vendors and external technical support on issues such as software upgrades, problems and potential solutions.

  • May participate in vendor selection and relationship management.

  • Focuses on providing thought leadership and technical expertise across multiple disciplines.

  • Automate configuration management and deployments using Ansible playbooks and YAML for resource declaration, creating roles and updating Playbooks to provision Infrastructure.

  • Use Ansible Tower for scheduling playbooks and used GIT repository to maintain and store the playbooks.

  • Build, maintain and monitor configuration standards.

  • Document and design various Infrastructure automation processes; update existing automation processes.

  • Configuring metrics and alerts for monitoring and develop ways to improve.

  • Recognized internally as “the go-to person” for the most complex Database Administration solutions.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience and knowledge of Oracle database administration is required, other database technologies like PostgreSQL, MongoDB is a plus.

  • Must have hands-on Oracle 19c experience with latest tuning and optimization techniques

  • In-depth knowledge in OS and Storage internals that influence database activity.

  • Hands-on Oracle DB upgrade experience, Oracle 11g/12c to 19c

  • Expertise in Exadata, Oracle 19c, Oracle RAC, and ASM in Linux is required.

  • Expertise in database performance monitoring and tuning skills, SQL and Stored-Procedure tuning.

  • Excellent PL/SQL and SQL PLUS development and tuning skills are a must.

  • Skilled at both logical and system levels desired.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Automation tools and technologies like Ansible, Ansible Tower, GitHub, and Application program Interfaces etc.

  • Experience with AWS, Azure or other cloud technologies required.

  • Strong detailed analytical skills

  • Ability to stay very organized while managing multiple tasks and activities

  • Takes initiative and is a self-starter

  • Dealing with ambiguity and problem solving

  • Adapt communication style for the audience and topics

  • Exemplary Written and Verbal Communications
