Performs skilled masonry work in the construction, maintenance and repair of buildings and structures at the Minnesota Correctional - Moose Lake.

This position has direct contact with incarcerated individuals.

Minimum Qualifications

All applicants must minimally possess skill in masonry gained through one of the following:

  1. Completion of a registered masonry apprenticeship program.

  2. 6,000 hours of experience as a bricklayer or stonemason.

  3. Knowledge gained through an apprenticeship or other formal masonry training program plus three (3) years of work experience in skilled construction.

Additionally all applicants must possess:

· Skill in using saws, hammers, nails, bolts, or form hardware

· Skill in performing masonry work including building, altering, and repairing structures.

· Knowledge of building and positioning forms for pouring concrete and dismantles forms

· Knowledge of mixing concrete and mortar

· Ability to grade dirt and concrete efficiently and accurately

  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to schedule

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 or more years work experience in brick masonry.

  • 2 or more years work experience in tuckpointing.

  • Experience in supervising work direction of other employees

  • Experience working in a correctional/secured environment

Physical Requirements

The completion of pre-placement physical components may be required prior to hire for this position. These components may consist of a tuberculosis and respiratory screening. Additional Requirements

The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy.

Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
