Eaton Corporation Senior Power Electronics Engineer in Moon Township, Pennsylvania

Eaton’s Protection Control & Solutions busines is currently seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer.

This role is based in Moon Township, PA. No relocation assistance will be provided for this role.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $85,000 - $125,000 a year.

What you’ll do:

This position is responsible for designing, developing, and testing advanced power electronics topologies, its associated electrical systems and subsystems for circuit protection products to be used in both low voltage and medium voltage applications.

Essential Functions:

  • Leads the effort to identify, analyze, and validate advanced power electronics topologies in the areas of current switching and fault current interruption.

  • Defines, analyzes, and validates electronic control circuit and power circuits for power electronic circuit protection products.

  • Contribute to the development, design, build, test evaluation and documentation of hybrid and solid-state circuit interrupters.

  • Stays current with the latest power electronics technologies and applies the knowledge to circuit protection applications.

  • Develops product technical requirements by working with cross-functional team (marketing, engineering, manufacturing) and identifies components for product designs.

  • Plans work in detail at individual level, measures progress, and coordinates activities with the team members

  • Creates technical reports and presentations for leadership review and publication

  • Collaborates with teams from Eaton Research Labs, Electrical Sector Center of Excellence, and external technology resources (National Labs and Universities) for technology and product innovation.

  • Generates value added intellectual property.

  • Mentors, assigns tasks and determines priority for project team members as needed

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Five (5) years of related engineering experience in designing, developing and testing power electronics switching devices.

  • Two (2) years of experience in design & simulation tools such as Altium Designer, PSIM, ANSYS Simplorer, LT SPICE, MATLAB Simulink, and C language programming.

  • Two (2) years of hands-on experience with power electronic switching and control circuits development and testing.

  • Relocation assistance will be provided for candidates that reside outside a 50-mile radius of Moon Township, PA.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or PhD in electrical engineering, physics, or equivalent.

  • Hands-on experience in developing hybrid and solid-state circuit interrupter/breakers.

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment and implement repairs.

  • Strong understanding of electrical power systems
