DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: Description Michael Baker International has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Associate to remotely join our largest office located in Moon Township, PA, to provide electrical and lighting design services on a wide variety of transportation and infrastructure related projects. The successful candidate will become part of Michael Baker International's Transportation Department which includes highway, aviation, electrical, rail, and traffic engineers. Our Pittsburgh staff also supports other offices throughout the country with specialized electrical engineering design services.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, motivated, self-starter, with responsibilities that include production, design, and documentation for a broad range of project types. With a current focus on growing Design/Build, Federal, and Interstate project opportunities, along with market-driven diversification including Rail/Transit, Highways, Decorative Lighting, and Bridges/Tunnels. The candidate will work in multi-disciplinary, collaborative project design teams with Civil Engineers, Architects, and Systems Engineers. The successful candidate must demonstrate creative problem-solving, initiative to learn new concepts, organizational skills, an ability to work in a team environment with licensed Engineers & Architects and provide a basic understanding of construction documents and constructability. They will assist Electrical Engineers with the development of electrical system designs including but not limited to interior and exterior lighting; circuiting; schedules; calculations; sizing of electrical equipment, conduit, wiring, disconnects, and transformers, etc. This can be a remote position.

Specific duties will include: * Assist with the preparation of designs, design calculations, producing BIM models and construction drawings for transportation-related projects for a variety of clients * Work closely with engineers to complete design and/or analysis of the lighting needs on roadways, railways, trails, sidewalks, and other transportation infrastructure. * Assist in preparation of quantity calculations and construction cost estimates * Use design software to electronically apply engineering fundamentals in construction plan set preparation * Research/investigate solutions and report findings * Learn and understand the activities involved in assembling Electrical transportation project contract documents * You may also assist other departments within the office on an as-needed basis.

Professional Requirements * Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on electrical power and lighting * 0-5 years of related experience * Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months is preferred. * Familiarity with the National Electric Code * Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) * Experience with Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) * Experience with engineering software (SKM; Visual Lighting; AGi32 or Revit equivalent lighting software is desirable) * Effective visual/verbal communication skills are essential. * Candidate should possess a proficient understanding of inter-relationships among design/engineering disciplines, clients, and constructors.

COMPENSATION The approximate compensation range for this position is $51,812-$74,804. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
