Résumé du poste

Le ou la titulaire du poste est responsable de diriger l'observation fiscale pour le marché canadien. Il ou elle a notamment pour tâche de gérer la préparation des demandes fiscales pour les États-Unis et les exigences locales des déclarations de revenus (impôts, taxes indirectes, documentation sur les prix de transfert). Ce poste est axé sur la bonne gestion du risque fiscal, la production de déclarations fiscales, la gestion des demandes et des audits des administrations fiscales, le respect des délais internes ou gouvernementaux, l'allocation efficace des ressources pour atteindre les objectifs budgétaires et l'harmonisation des exigences mondiales avec les réglementations locales. Notre organisation suit une structure de travail hybride où les employés peuvent travailler à distance ou au bureau 50 % du temps.

Responsabilité principales

  • Préparer et superviser les diverses demandes fiscales et tous les aspects des exigences locales de conformité (impôt sur les bénéfices des sociétés et taxes de vente, du Canada).

  • Assurer la planification et l'exécution efficace des exigences locales en matière de conformité fiscale, y compris la préparation et des déclarations de revenus en mobilisant les ressources internes et externes, ainsi que la préparation et des différentes feuillets fiscaux (T4A, NR4, TVA).

  • Soutenir et mettre en œuvre des projets et des initiatives en matière de fiscalité.

  • Veiller à l'application correcte des règles comptables et de la législation fiscale pour les états financiers conformément aux normes de l'entreprise et à la législation locale. Détecter, mettre en œuvre et signaler les changements législatifs

  • Fournir des conseils et des renseignements fiscaux sur les activités de l'entreprise.

  • Amorcer et soutenir la préparation de la documentation sur les prix de transfert en collaboration avec les conseillers externes, les équipes financières et commerciales locales pour les entités canadiennes appropriées.

  • Soutenir et coordonner les vérifications et les demandes fiscales locales ou internationales.

  • Communiquer et négocier avec les administrations fiscales (audit, appels, autorité compétente, APA).

  • Préparation des informations fiscales annuelles à inclure dans les états financiers, y compris le calcul des impôts reportés et la provision d'impôt.

  • Appuyer la stratégie de normalisation et d'automatisation, d'amélioration continue et de gestion des risques.

Qualification et expérience

  • Baccalauréat en comptabilité avec titre de CPA.

  • Maîtrise en fiscalité est un atout majeur.

  • Au moins cinq à sept ans d'expérience professionnelle dans un grand cabinet de comptables agréés (idéalement au service de l'impôt) ou expérience de travail équivalente en lien avec l'imposition de multinationales.

  • Connaissance particulière des opérations transfrontalières canadiennes entrantes et sortantes et des processus des autorités compétentes canadiennes.

  • La maîtrise de l'anglais et du français (techniques et courants) est essentielle.

  • Connaissance des principes comptables, des exigences de vérification et de divulgation des états financiers.

  • Expérience et aisance à traiter avec les autorités gouvernementales à tous les niveaux.

  • Compréhension des normes comptables américaines.

  • Esprit d'équipe, solides compétences en leadership et capacité à communiquer avec les autres et à travailler avec un minimum de supervision.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for managing all tax compliance for the Canadian market. This includes managing both the preparation of US reporting submissions and local tax filing requirements (direct and indirect taxes, transfer price documentation). This role focuses on properly managing tax risk, filing accurate returns, managing inquiries and audits from the local tax authorities, meeting internal or jurisdictional tax deadlines, efficiently managing resources to achieve budget targets and aligning global requirements with local regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for US tax reporting submissions and all aspects of local compliance requirements (corporate income tax and value-added tax).

  • Ensures effective planning and execution of local tax compliance requirements, including preparation and review of tax returns by managing internal and external resources, and preparation and review of different tax filing (T4A, NR4, VAT returns).

  • Support and execute the implementation of tax projects and initiatives.

  • Ensure accounting rules and tax legislation are properly applied for both management and statutory accounts in compliance with corporate standards and local legislation. Identify, implement, and report changes in legislation.

  • Provide tax specific advice and information on business operations.

  • Initiate and support the preparation of Transfer Price documentation in liaison with external advisors, local finance and commercial teams for the proper Canadian entities.

  • Support and coordinate local or international tax audits and inquiries.

  • Liaise and negotiate with tax authorities (Audit, Appeals, Competent Authority, APA).

  • Preparation of annual tax disclosures to be included in Statutory Financial Statements, including calculation of current and deferred tax provisions.

  • Support strategy of standardization and automation, continuous improvement, and risk management.

  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant tax laws including researching technical issues as they arise.

  • Proactively identify tax key issues, takes ownership to deliver efficient responses.

  • Support a high-performance operating culture throughout the organization which emphasizes the customer, teamwork, external focus, and personal accountability.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Accounting Bachelor degree with CPA membership. Master in Tax highly regarded.

  • Five to seven years minimum professional experience in large chartered accounting firm (working in tax department preferred) or equivalent working experience in a multi-national corporate tax environment.

  • Specific knowledge of Canadian cross-border inbound and outbound transactions, and Canadian Competent Authority process.

  • Fluency in English and French (technically and communicative) is a requirement.

  • Proficient in accounting provisions, accounting principles, audit and disclosure requirements of financial statements.

  • Demonstrated experience and comfort dealing with government authorities at all level.

  • Understanding of US GAAP.

  • Team player with good leadership skills who is confident in communicating with others and can work with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent organization skills.

  • Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure.

  • Strong interpersonal, written and communication skills.

  • Deal effectively with ambiguous and unstructured problems and situations.

  • Move easily between big picture thinking and managing relevant detail.

  • Navigate the complexities of cross-border and/or diverse teams and engagements.
