Job description

Supervises work in directing the work of minimum-security prison inmate workers, engaged in manual work. This is maintenance work at the full performance level. Work involves supervision of and participation in a variety of tasks to maintain and repair buildings and grounds, such as painting, bricklaying, carpentry, minor heating and cooling system repairs, and minor electrical and plumbing repairs. This position works under direct supervision of Assistant Support Manager.

Hours: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Prepares material list, cost out projects and submits through Supervisor for approval and purchase order.
  • Plans routine repair, custodial, and maintenance and construction jobs in a variety of locations.
  • Works closely with the Resident Supervisor.
  • Complete time sheets of crew members and submit to the RMS and Director of Treatment.
  • Coordinate and schedule crews for various jobs.
  • Fully responsible for performing work to the satisfaction of the project owners. May coordinate material delivery to sites and make available the necessary tools.
  • Screens and revokes all crew members, including all disciplinary reports, special incident reports, extraordinary occurrences and interviewing.
  • Instructs inmate workers.
  • Responsible for tools, materials, and other property.
  • Responsible for crew discipline and behavior.
  • Able to operate backhoe, skid steer and Farm Tractor for use to complete site maintenance.
  • Completes daily site tour to observe any litter collection needs and in times of rain to maintain storm collection basins.
  • Completes weekly washouts of LF Equipment used at the working face
  • Completes dozer track cleaning as required prior to maintenance and repair of tracks

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fully responsible for inmates on worksite, transporting them back and forth from the Pre-Release Center.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Works outside in all types of weather conditions. Working in certain types of waste conditions requiring safety precautions. Slight potential for danger, due to working with minimum security prisoners.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Fully qualified requirements include a (2) years related experience in building and mechanical trades.
  • Ability to supervise operation of lawnmowers, snow blowers, leaf vacuums, small hand and power tools.
  • Possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
  • Ability to supervise persons engaged in routine maintenance repair, construction, labor and custodial work.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of building trades, utilities, and construction.
  • Ability to operate backhoe, Skid Steer and Farm Tractor.
  • Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check per County policy.

Job Type: Full-time
